Located in the southern part of Mexico, Chiapas is made up of mountainous highlands and dense rainforests, creating a beautifully diverse landscape. This state is filled with Mayan historical sights and Spanish colonial towns and is known for its production of cacao. The state of Chiapas has the highest poverty rate in all of Mexico, partially due to the marginalization of the large indigenous population in the state.

Short-term trips categorized at this level have an advanced amount of strenuous activity, advanced ministry demands, location requirements, or all of the above.  Participants must be willing to share the Gospel and their testimony to others, be physically able to walk for extended periods of time at great distances on uneven surfaces and/or mountain terrain, and be willing to commit to attending 100 percent of scheduled trainings on culture and ministry tactics. These trips have mandatory training that must be completed by all participants who are on the final team roster.
