Mexico – 2021-35
In the country of Mexico is Chiapas, it’s most southern state. Chiapas has a population of nearly 5 million people, made up primarily of three indigenous groups: the Mixes-Zoques, the Mayas, and the Chiapa. These indigenous groups speak an estimated 56 language dialects. The people of Chiapas are primarily Catholic, identifying themselves as “traditionalist” Catholic, introduced to the religion by the Spanish conquistadors. The majority of these people of “traditionalist” Catholic faith would not be referred to as “born again Christians,” or Evangelical Christians.
Short-term trips categorized at this level have either a medium level of strenuous activity levels, mid-level advanced ministry or location requirements, or all of the above. Participants must be willing to share the gospel and their testimony to others, be physically able to walk for extended periods of time, over even and uneven surfaces with some steps, inclines and unpaved terrain. Participants must be willing to commit to attending 100 percent of scheduled trainings on culture and ministry tactics.
